Well I didnt pay too much attention to weight saving......,I did remove all the carpets and sound deadening though! & will replace only some of the carpet, but adding a turbo and charge cooler and bigger radiator will have added some, as will the big brakes, but I hope to have kept it around 1100KG once its on the road it will be going for a suspension setup and weigh in....

Ok SO Here are the graphs for the final Power & Torque, these are Hub Figures, 475HP & 498lb/ft torque.

and the fueling on boost

I drove it for 200 yards - first time not so good as it coughed and spluttered, due to a temperature dependent rev limit to stop me going for it until the engine is warm, second try - WOW cool its got one hell of a kick!

Its back in the garage now , till i get it ready for the MOT - And set up the suspension!

Will you be busy on June 29th? The PPC £999 Challenge will be at Santa Pod if you wanted to embarrass us. smile

There are a few ifffffs to that, If I have an MOT, If I am not at work, If the Car is finished......

Anyway I think its a teeny bit over the £999 for the challenge, If I can make it I wouldnt mind doing a demo run though, just to see.....smile

Got the Seats this week, and they are now fitted, just a couple of minor jobs left to do before the MOT on Monday - Hopefully not too many things to put right after thatsmile

So you're on course for a visit to the Pod on the 29th?

http://www.ppcmag.co.uk/999-challenge.html

It'd be nice to have something worth looking at between runs and sprints.

If anyone else would like to see the carnage it's only a fiver to come along (gratuitous plug). wink

We're now in the middle of the late Jet Stream (it normally crosses us in April hence "April Showers) as it heads to the North Atlantic Ridge. So this week's maybe ten days will be wet or humid and windy. rolleyes

But after that it should be fresh and warmer. If the wind stays from the Atlantic the it will remain humid. There's a chance it could swing round from the top of the Jet Stream and it will hit warm air and become energetic and wet. Best bet is if; the wind should swing round from the right over continental Europe then it would be dry and hot.

Because the Jet Stream is late Summer should be as well. So extra track time late September early October then. thumbup

Well it sailed through the MOT, and I managed a whole 75 miles before Bang the gearbox went from a five speed to a 4 speed redfacefrown So I guess that answers the question as to if the gearbox would take the power or not.... I didnt expect it to last forever, but did think it would do a few thousand miles end cover off and sump drained, shows the damage to be a stripped 4th gear frown

This was a new box, so the question is what to do next - I have another gearbox, a used one, but the same 164 gearbox, so i guess that won't last either...

Looks like the car wont be seeing much action this year as a "proper" box that will take 550lbft is way over the budget...

Any Ideas on a FWD box that will take that torque??

Next thread "which gearbox for 500bhp?"......... sorry couldn't resist!

But more helpfully, can you tell what the failure mode was? If it is a root stress failure in the teeth then some of the standard hardening / superfinishing techniques will help a lot. Also, various gear people will make you a super tough replacement single gear pair for not actually that much money these days, especially as you have a pattern to work from ;-)
