Supercharged 2.5 944 project.
Discussion
Hello,
I think that is the case for s2's and so on but my early early 944 is different, or so I've been told in that it has one complete unbroken ring of teeth so that the ecu knows engine speed and the other sensor just picks up on on little stud screwed into the fly wheel so the ecu knows where tdc is.
I was thinking of trying an s2 flwheel and clutch (as mine is worn) to cure this little problem or machining off some of the teeth from the pressure plste to creat a 60 - 2 wheel.

Take A look at this thread http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=36...
Yes thats a good point ref the exchange rate. I really did fancy getting an Emerald to use due how easy to use and understand it looks in the software dept. I found MS to be quite overwhelming at times due to the amount of options it has plus all the little tricks and methods of installation that can be used, you're never quite sure if you have the optimum setup but if microsquirt (or at least the setup the chaps on that thread are using) really is as plug and play as they're making it look as being then I'll give it another shot.
I'm going to order up an lc1 and get that fitted and do some logging to see what afr the oe dme runs the engine at in standard form. This way I will have a rough benchmark to work from when I come to fitting and using another ecu (which I'll be fitting before anything boost like goes anywhere near my car!)
Do you know if there's much to be gained from a mappable ecu over the standard n/a setup? I would guess losing the crude afm would free up a few ponies?
Its like abreviation day around here!

I Have no idea if it will free up more power or maybe improve drivability, only one way to find out! Was planning on logging wih a wideband as well, just waiting for it to arrive.
I can't comment on how easy MS is or isn't having not played with standalone engine management before but i have spent many an hour working on my prev(1982) 944 which had been carefully neglected for years. For me this is project of its own just to see if i can do it then maybe think about a blower.

I can only imagine that removing the afm will improve things.
I've used an ms on my last car with limited success so hopefully this time will be easier.
Most of my troubles last time with the install so hopefully adapting it to a car that already has efi will be easier for me, I hate wiring!

Not sure about the charge cooler but I do have a usefull link for the Dme system and connections http://www.frwilk.com/944dme/
