Hi folks,
Im running a V8 engine which runs a coil on plug ignition system (Nissan VH45DE engine) and i am looking for an aftermarket system that's going to produce some really heavy duty powerfull spark. I have had quite good experiences with running wasted spark setups on the Jap Engines so that's a definate possibility. I don't mind going coilpacks/leeds if i need too.

Does anybody have any first hand experiences with a system that they would recommend?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Are you having problems with the current system. Most modern COP coils are pretty powerful already.

Unless you either know the standard coils are crap, or are experiencing problems, Id say save your money.

Also, are your current COP regular coils, or do they have built in ignitors ?

COP with built in ignitors -
I know for a fact that the coilpacks on this engine are "Alright" up to about 800hp-ish. However they are 13 years old and Nissan coilpacks do have a tendancy to be terribly un-reliable. Plus, im shooting for about 850 - 1000hp and i want to pre-empt the "blowing out the spark" tendancy that we can sometimes have.

Many thanks -

Various factors come into it.

Can you control coil dwell time ?

Given you have built in ignitors, then if you want to fit an aftermarket amp, then you must fit the amp, and new coils.

MSD would be an obvious choice. Although AEM or Jacobs will do similar products I think. If you cant source an 8 channel, then you'd have to do 4 channel wasted spark.

Or possible easy swap. LS1 style coils have been well proven, and can easily handle 1000bhp on LS engines. Again, a lot will depend on how much control you have over its firing. If you cant specify coil "on-time" with your ecu, then you are already at a loss.
