I'm looking at a Hoist, leveller and stand deal on ebay at the mo.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-2TON-ENGINE-CRANE-LIFT-E...

My question is, is the engine stand part of this deal ok/compatible with the AJP on my 4.5?

Many thanks
Cad

Link no work...

For stands....I'd opt for the typical T shape on the floor, with the additional leg at the base of the T.

More sturdy, and easy to lift an engine off and on with a crane.

As for a Crane....get one with as long a reach as you can. The way they measure reach is totally misleading too in the specs.

I guess we are talking about this item:

I have the 4 wheeled engine stand, but then again with a 440 big block on it - you need it.

The load levelers are good:

Although the fittings they come with are flimsy:

The 4 legged stand is more sturdy, yes....

My only problem with it, is that it is more awkward to fit/remove an engine, when using an engine Crane.

So if it isnt really necessary, Id avoid. They also take up a little more workshop space, and when moving it about, requires more room due to that large footprint.

Most engine cranes wont reach the engine in a TVR, being as they are so far back from the front that the engine crane leg hits the front of the car before the hook is hanging anywhere near the engine, this is a problem on many modern rwd cars now.
we use a block and tackle.
I`ve had some big diesel 4 pot engines on a 3 wheeled stand,(3.0 iveco)they weigh far more than the AJP.
