Engine sensor electrics

I'm trying to figure out how I can correctly allow up to 3 devices (but possibly only 2) use the same sensor. I've a situation where the ECU, datalogger and possibly dash, (although dependant on my choice of dash it could run off the logger) all need inputs but I don't want to have a situation where I need a separate sensor for each, ie 3 water sensors, 3 oil pressure sensors.

Anyone out there with a modicum of sparkie knowledge be able to help? Do I need some sort of amplifier to boost the signal to each or can I just piggy back the wires (doubtful). Each device can have its range programmed if that helps.

If the dash and logger have high impedance inputs (e.g. no resistive pull-ups) then you should be able to just piggy back them. Otherwise you will need to buffer the voltage on the sensor with a unity gain amp. The amplifier circuit isn't too difficult, (basicaly just a sutiable op-amp), but you will need to construct a suitable automotive quality regulator for it (National Semiconductior make suitable devices).

Most modern loggers will simply plug into the ecu, and use that as its input ( aftermarket ecu's )

What logger and ecu is it ?

Thanks folks, its a Race Technology DL1 (early spec) logger and a Megasquirt ECU. both use DB9 serial connectors to talk to the laptop, but I've no idea if they speak the same language etc. and no one knows or at least no one is willing to tell me yay or nay either way.

ETA oh and the Race Technology Dash2 that I could use also uses the DB9 connector on the logger to take it's sensor readings, and relay its inputs back to the DL1, can 2 devices talk to the same DB9 connector?
