Hi All,

Am new to PH and wonder if anyone can help with a problem on my wifes C2.

Have had a few instances where engine warning light came on momentarily and corresponding loss of power for 1 or 2 seconds. At last service Citroen were unable to diagnose.

Bank holiday, engine warning light came on and ignition failed completely. RAC replaced ignition coil and advised replacing plugs. Fault light cleared and car ran ok.

Next day on motorway light came back on perminently, about 60 miles from cold, car seemed to run ok. Citroen dealer dignosed intermitant misfire and ageing Catalytic Converter.
Car just out of warrenty and 35K.

Sought independant advice from local garage, advised it could be Cat but unlikely unless problem with long term misfire. Replaced plugs and had emmissions tested. Passed with flying colours.

Drove car next day for approx 25 miles no problems.

Following day after about 15 miles from cold (1/2 mile onto motorway) light came back on perminently, car running ok.

Can anyone offer advice to the problem please? How can I reset the fault light to see when it reoccurs?

Regards

Citroen can't tell you what's wrong with it because they don't really know.

I see them every week and most of the time there's nothing majorly wrong that can't be traced to cr*p programming and engine management.

Before you take it to the dealer try disconnecting the battery for ten minutes. that will reset all the computers and usually sort out the usual Citroen problems such as non-start, immobilised, exterior lights randomly flashing, central locking cycling, radio randomly turning on and off, auto gearbox throwing a hissy fit, etc.... I could list some more but i think you get the gist of it now.

Used to work on these and pugs a while back and we were constantly having to do software downloads to update the dodgy programming installed at the factory, and this was on PDi vehicles.
Why the factory didnt just programme the bloody ecu's with the updated software at point of manufacture was beyond me...i mean, they were only in Ryton ffs!.
Had no end of hassles with faulty programming, updates that wouldnt, and downloads that would appear to complete correctly but then the cars wouldnt start...heck frenchy cars, i love em....
I think they get more than their fair share of faults, possibly down to "couldnt give a toss" being the predominant attitudes when theyre being built.

Be thankful you dont have a Fiat, now they really ARE an electrical riot! hehe But i still like em.wink
