Run a self diagnosis.....

I dont want to teach you to suck eggs so apologies if you already knew this.

Get in car, insert key in ignition but don't turn it, Press and hold ODO/trip reset button, turn key to pos II, when test is indicated on the odometer display release the reset button, now cycle through by repeatedly pressing the trip reset button until you get DTC flashing, DTC will alternate with either "none" or a 4 digit code. If there is a 4 digit code post it here i will tell you what the fault is. A broken EGR will flash up a 4 digit code so that is easily ruled out.

Hi All

Got the car back yesterday and all seems well they say it was just the EGR valve that needed replacing but as they stripped the engine out and checked everything i am sure they did a bit more. Anyway all is good as fuel economy much better than it had been for a while now. And they covered all costs including replacing the struts on the rear hatch that should be all accounts not be covered by the warantee. So I am happy again.

They did a full engine strip down for an EGR fault ??

They need to employ someone capable of a little diagnostic work !!!!
