hyabusha turbo's... do they last ?
Discussion
Been browsing for some possible engine transplants
and seen these ...
Impressive power to weight ratio's and a 400 hp jobbie not too expensive
but how long do they last ?
The guys at holeshot racing seem to have a comprehensive package and uprate all the right stuff but its a lot of hp out a small engine
what is the collective's opinion ?

Have you looked at http://www.powertecengineering.com/ ? These guys do very reliable 1500 and turbo Hayabusa's and a very cool V8 based on the Hayabasa!

A bit heavier than the 7 's but not to porkly at 1100 kg with origonal engine
I thought that the logical choice for an engine swap in these would be some kind of V8 and I'm sure it's been done before.A bit heavier than the 7 's but not to porkly at 1100 kg with origonal engine
The way the engines configured it's half a V8 anyway.
Someone put an Audi V8 into an Esprit, can't remember where I saw the details, but it was a very good conversion.

Thats heavy, near double a Seven. Bike engine conversions are often talked about on the mx5 boards (stock MX5's weigh 950kg) and conclusion is they are too heavy for a bike engine.A bit heavier than the 7 's but not to porkly at 1100 kg with orignal engine
How about a toyota 4 pot, 3SGTE or Aluminuim 3ltr V6 1MZ-FE from the Camry?
The standard 'Busa motor seems bulletproof, and they seem to withstand mild turbocharging quite easily. However, anything near 400 bhp is getting pretty extreme, and I wouldn't think it would last long between rebuilds.
