Vintage car dynamo problem

The Lucas dynamo on my 1925 car is fitted directly to the engine and has an direct gear cog drive. The problem I have is a slight oil seepage getting thru to the dynamo brushes, presume from the engine. I have taken the dynamo off to inspect but cannot see what is supposed to seal the electrical gubbins from the engine. Any ideas or references please.

What type of bearing is used in the nose of the dynamo?
I suspect it may be an oilite bearing in which case the fit of the bearing on the shaft was all the sealing it got. In your case both the bearing and shaft are now worn allowing the leak. You could fit a new bearing but the shaft will have some wear so you may not gain much from the repair.

Thanks Steve, I fear that what you have suggested is most likely the answer. Looks like I am going to have to enquire as to wether an bearing can be tailered to provide a correct fit or maybe the shaft looked at.
