Running on veg

I hear some people say some cars are better for this than others. Anyone have a list of which ones are ok or not?
Or failing that how about running something like a 50/50 mix of veg oil/diesel in something like a 1997 Peugeot 106 1.5 straight diesel or a 200Tdi Land Rover?
Thanks.
What you want is to get a couple of XUD9 PSA engines, make them a bit bigger and combine them into a V8, say 4.0 to 4.4 litres. Then replace the single turbo setup with twin turbos each bank, as much boost as you can, so hopefully well over 300bhp. When you've done this please put it in a RWD car, as its just much better than FWD
However if you want to be serious, what's the fuel pump in the 106?

No idea, which is sorta why I was asking. The disco has a Bosch Jetronic unit. Ta http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum/viewthre...
It seems it would be a Lucas unit which will die with use of cold vegetable oil. A car would require a twin tank setup in this case (ie startup on diesel and then switch to veg when the coolant is hot and the fuel gets thinned through a heat exchanger).
Exactly what "veg" are you thinking of using anyway (ie new or used) ?
Also what year is the LR?

I was just thinking new veg oil from the supermarket. It's cheaper than diesel. So thought about running it as a 50/50 mix just to cut running costs a bit.
The Pug is only a commuter and only cost £650, so if it only ran for a year before grinding to halt it wouldn't really matter.
The Disco was just a thought that if it worked ok in the Pug and cut costs then it would seem silly not to do the same if it wan't risky.
I'd rather not bugger the Disco engine though as I only fitted it a few years back after blowing the original. Not sure on the exact year, but all 200TDI where the same.

I've seen £3.49 for 3L of veg from Asda but its supposed to be possible to get nearer £1/L from the cash & carries. The Pug is only a commuter and only cost £650, so if it only ran for a year before grinding to halt it wouldn't really matter.

Given the cost saving I think the risk would be too high on the 106 with the Lucas pump. A friend had same pump on a ZX which would make uncomfortable noises on cold start up! He soon changed the pump to a Bosch one.
Would think it will be better to change the 106 for a XUD9/Bosch engined one and then you could 50/50 diesel and veg in the summer ...
From here though, seems that the LR would be more suitable than the 106..
