BMW 318is stalling - Any help appreciated
Discussion
I'm a complete novice under the bonnet and attempted a basic service today (oil/fuel/air filters and plugs).
Everything went fine until i couldn't get the 2nd cylinder's plug out, i changed the other 3 and then replaced the fuse for the fuel pump which i had taken out for the fuel filter change. I turned the ignition on and left it a few seconds for the fuel pump to kick in.
It started fine but instead of settling to idle, the revs dropped and cut out. I tried running the engine with throttle at about idle for a while but as soon as i released the pedal, it died. Checked obvious things like putting the fuel filter on the right way round.
I'm aware i might have answered my own question and i should probably get that plugged changed tomorrow but just hoping someone might know if the problem is likely to be that pesky spark plug or if i may have c*cked something else up with my complete inability to follow simple instructions.
As the title says any help would be appreciated as i'm gonna have a crack tomorrow.
Cheers

i was following haynes manual's instructions to depressurise(?) the fuel system so i could change the fuel filter.Dont think it is mixed up leads because i made sure to tipex the corresponding numbers onto the cylinders before i removed them.
Thanks for the help anyway though. i've managed to get a friend of a friend who works at Stephen James BMW to come round this afternoon.
