Help, aluminum filings in the Oil......?

Guys,

I have a 125cc moped and not very well. I changed the oil, took it for a spin and it was still spluttering and randomly there were aluminum shards in the oil - any ideas?

Definitely aluminium not steel? (Steel would be magnetic, of course, so easy to tell apart.)

Is it an aluminium block? Perhaps one of the bearings has seized and started to spin.

It could be - if that is the case could that be why it keeps cutting out at speed and doesnt tick over too well - im not very mechanically mindeed!
