Injector problem?
Discussion
Cars been off the road for a month as im abit worried how much this is going to cost me in labour costs.
But looking at my problem it looks more and more a injector problem.
Car runs fine for about 5 mins Then after that Runs like a dog. Iddle's Lumpy/Splutters/and hardly any compression in 1st gear.
People fort it might been the lambdas so i changed all of them put my Cat back on. Still have the problem. There isnt any engine lights on.
Would a faulty injector show up on the engine diagnostics? As iv had a couple of checks from Citroen garages and they say nothing is wrong with it and too come back when the "Engine" light comes on (crazy Citroen)
Cars nearly 3 years old.
Would any reputable garage be able to sort this?
I have changed the cams. Would it be worth a shot of getting it done under warranty?

This doesn't make sense, why would compression change according to the gear selected?Craigc2 said:

I'm surprised that the cams would require replacement within 3 years, is this a common Citroen fault? As the car is still under manufacturers warranty you should let the dealers sort this issue out IMO, no point spending money on it if you don't have to.So to recap, it's running a modified cam (but has been running OK with that previously), but now is intermittently running rough and down on power.
I suggest you fit a set of new plugs and see what state the old ones were in. Replace all the HT leads. This might solve the problem, but if not it's one less thing to cause trouble between now and the next service.
Did these symptoms come in suddenly or have they come in gradually over a few days/weeks/months? If the problem is intermittent, can you see any pattern to when they happen? Is it better/worse when the engine is hot, after you take it for a good blast and so on.

Its strange actually how it came on..
I filled up with petrol.. Pulled out the petrol station and Summin just went.. The revs would only go above a certain spot And i was getting lots of Spitting out the exhaust on over-run. I re-set the ECu and all was fine until it started happening again now the engine would cut out on idle. (being an automatic its hard to keep the revs up).
Took it to citroen and they said it was due to a dirty lambda. So they Cleaned that. all was good untill it happened again. I swapped Manifolds over (because i had a 4-1 de-cat on) So i fort it could be Affecting the lambdas. No change there unfortunately.
It Starts up ok Petrol is getting around when i start up but then once the engine Warms up, it goes into crazy mode.
Yea cams were Running lovely. And idled fantastic with very little lumpiness.

You "fort" it could be affecting the lambdas ????
mmmmm Why not just get a competent garage to daignose the thing. It sounds like you've been taking it to fools to start with.
It isnt rocket science to monitor lambda output, and see if they are working.
As for the compression in 1st gear.....
Obviously you have no warranty on the car, due to the work carried out. So may as well find a competent garage, who can look at it and find the problem. Most main dealers dont have a clue...nor do they have a clue how to read diagnostic equipment.
But being French...god knows what could be wrong.

When you talk about things like 'petrol getting around' and 'low compression' it's hard to know whether that is actually what is happening, or you're guessing what might be causing the symptoms. Are you saying that the problem doesn't occur when it's cold but comes in gradually as it warms up?
