Might be a dumb question but why?

(coming back to this thread, trying to find out what the history was)
Puma - we have spoken before offline. My late father was a head porting expert (Hungarian funnily enough!) and he would be in stiches now if he was still alive!
I've recently updated his old website with a video of him taken in the 90's (yes, he's not porting the head - just buzzing around for the benefit of my mother who insisted on getting a video of him - looking back now, good job she did.)
http://mez.co.uk/mezporting/
(he calls these jobs tractor engines.. also beetle and Harleys were refered to as tractors also..)
I remember you contacting me and I said it sounded like he was just the sort of guy I would have loved to have met and been able to swap stories with.

And yes he clearly wasn't porting the head. He had a small polishing mop on the air tool and was just titivating about for the camera. However, he had the mop on a long homemade extension shaft which is also just how I do things so you can see what you're doing inside the ports without having to get the main bulk of the porting tool too close to the head and blocking your view. Different people, same solution. I'm sure he did great work and that the tuning world misses him.

Now I understand what You wrote.

I feel sorry of Your Father. I am sure He can continue his profession at his present "location" - if he wishes to.

His tools are on the right. He told me they were adapted from fuel pumps from old engine test beds. The set on the left that I started gathering he just laughed at - apart from the blue ATA grinder - which was pretty powerful.

Greetings!

Though I have "solved" my problem with making new engines, I am still curious about the cause.
I have summarized the whole story on a short page, and added my opinion. Please if You have time, run through it and let me know what You think about my conclusion. Or if You have any other ideas, well the case is not yet closed.
