My GTI has always had an oil consumption of about 1 liter every 1200 km.

Checked the oil again at the weekend after another 300 miles and its used no oil ! so from changing from 5/30 fully to 10/40 semi has done the trick.

Customer pressure group needs to put pressure on VW to recall or get a proper engineering solution to this high oil consumption. DESIGN/ OR MANUFACTURING Problem?

I've had my Bocanegra about 3 months now. When I collected it from the dealer it had an oil change a few days before. Checked the level and it was at the top of dipstick.

Since I've had it and put some 2500 odd miles on it I've noticed its been drinking oil. Used about 4/5ths of the hatched area on the dipstick.

Anyone have an idea as to how much oil it would take from the bottom of the dipstick hatched area to the top?

I don't believe there is a definitive conclusion but the general concenus seems to be the newer cars are less/ not affected

Mines on a 61 plate, and has covered 23k miles since new, and mine used a liter in the 1st 2500 miles, then another liter after another 4000 miles, and after that oil usage has been minimal.

I really enjoy driving my car everyday, its sad that guys like huwp got the bunch of duds that came out the factory first, because they really are good little cars that surprise alot of bigger cars on the road !
