So does anyone know for sure whether mod personnel need to do that form? Or should I just call them and ask? And if I come along to watch do I need to buy a ticket? And, does anyone have a spare helmet...?

Just tried to book this up, but it appears to be sold out!?

Is it still worth coming up for a look-see, or will I be having a major tantrum that I can't waste it up the runway???

It's well worth it for the social side and passenger runs are allowed in the afternoon too.
I'm heading up from Waterlooville, you are welcome to join me.

Thanks for the invite, I may very well take you up on it. Are you going there and back in one day?
I've emailed Thunder Road in case they get anyone pulling out so I'll just have to wait and see...

Yes, one day! 4.30am kick-off yikes Meeting Leigh1050 and others at South Mimms at 6.00am and then to the Black Cat little Chef on the A1 for 7.00am.

Should be back home by about 8pm, all going well.

Wahoo!!! Just bagged myself a reserve space... Thank you Thunder Road people.

Ok, so I've never been to an event like this before... What do I need to expect from this day? Guess I need to sort a helmet out and do I need to 'do' anything to my car to prep it or any special insurance required? Can you tell I'm very excited!? Hahaha smile

You can hire or borrow helmets on the day, although it's the best long term policy to go out and buy your own (£30 upwards). You don't really need to do anything unusual to your car to prepare it. Check all of your fluid levels and tyre pressures etc. And you'll need long sleeves and full length trouseres (not shorts) to run at the event. Other than that just enjoy the day biggrin

Sounds like we may have a convoy thumbup

Well done, you will really enjoy the day!

As said double check all the fluid levels including oil and brake fluid, puts a lot of stress on the car.

Also double double check the tyres, got a shock on mine, one of the fronts has a massive chunk missing out of the inner edge, no good for trying to stop from 150+!

Will need a helmet also as mentioned and make sure you do the MOD form on the website to get on the base otherwise they wont let you in!
