OK - my badges from domedbadge were waiting for me when I arrived home last night. Took a bit longer than their website states, but only a few days.

Steering wheel badge I'm pretty happy with. smile

Carbon effect background and matt silver as I was nervous about both the background and the logo being too reflective. 53mm to ensure I covered the original (51mm or 52mm would have been fine in retrospect) with the HSV logo design at 110% scaling 'cos I thought one annular ring looked better than the std two. If ordering again I probably wouldn't choose the "shadow" effect either as I'm not sure it is really effective.

Carbon effect would suit your new leather Gary. biggrin

Does it look like the classiest badge in the world? Nope. nono

Does it look better than the original (cheap & nasty) badge? Yup. bowtie

Although the weather is crap in England it's glorious up here (always is wink ) so I also took an offset picture to show the "as shiney as it gets" view.

The keyfob badge was less successful. At 15mm diameter and 100% scaling, the width of the two annular rings is clearly pushing the capabilities of their process as they aren't formed completely. I put it on my "spare key" for this reason, and had to remove it part way as it was going slightly squint.... which (due to the heavily recessed fob location) meant I further damaged the edge slightly. Oops. At £8 a go I'll probably get another made for my main key at 120% scaling to remove the annular rings from the design completely (This badge is black background with chrome emblem btw). Will see if I can get a discount since the first is of questionable quality smile

Thanks Mik - appreciate the update. Did you remove the original badge or stick on top?

PS - How long have you been on Evo?

Hi Gary,

Steering wheel badge is stuck over the top (taking heed of Stefan's advice to avoid the Vaux outline coming through).

I used a watchmakers screwdriver to remove the original keyfob badge. It delaminated so the clear surface was removed, but the base vauxhall emblem was pretty well stuck and provided a flat surface, so I just put the new HSV badge on top of that.

Someone else asked me how long I've been on evo the other week - I joined Scoobynet late 2000 and evo not long after that - so probably early 2001? (I only lurked initially naturally)

You're not Gary of rapid Golf fame?

Aha - I thought you might be - you were more vociferous when I was lurking in the early days. It seemed much more cliquey to me back then with the IFG and the IAFG etc etc confused

Actually it is still bleddy cliquey, and remains one of the most "robust conversation" forums I use. laugh

lol, I think it's been at least 6 years since I even went there! I'm surprised its still going. But I know what you mean the Cliquey thing - having said that, IFG became justgofaster.com but for me the most important thing is that the original 9 members are still there, and we regard each other as best friends (in the real world )

There's a real world? wink

I'd probably recognise a few names, but I'm not sure who the 9 you mention are (is one RogerTVR? wink ) but cool regardless.

lol, Aah - Roger TVR ( and Tivs) and his 'Langoustines' LOL what a ...

Funny ole days at the turn of the Century. That Golf was a heap of shit too It's funny, it was because of all the time it spent off the road with blown up engines that I discovered cheap rear wheel drive and trackdays. When it finally got 'finished' the first thing I did after trying to go round a roundabout was post a picture describing what I had created:

I am rather late to join the forum on the acquisition of HSV re-badging of my VXR8, and note the forum on steering wheel badges. Can anyone direct me to where I might buy one? Also, is there anywhere I can get an R8 badge for the rear? I intend to buy the main set (wheels, bonnet, boot and front wings) from Walkinshaw.

Finally got around to changing mine today as the weather seemed a little better ...

Completely removed the original Vaux badge ... scary moments, the horn kept making me jump and then when it did come off i could see the air bag underneath through the holes!

Think it looks pretty good recessed and means hopefully there is less chance that the edges will be caught and peel it off

Firstly, if anybody hasn't received their items I AM very sorry and this will be rectified in some way.
Secondly, I wasn't aware that I had anything to say sorry for?

You'll note that this post is over six months old and while yes there were delays with a couple of bits due in part to quite a tempestuous time for me and also a supplier that took my cash and disappeared (You'll also note, I never mentioned this, only that I'd had issues with a supplier and made bloody sure, or tried to anyway, that everybody got what they'd asked for regardless of the hit I took).

I am not here to rob anybody, only to try and help out. I had my original badge for a year or so before any of this started and had no reason what so ever to go out of my way to help any of you (though most did appreciate it, thanks) as it was the one part nobody seemed to be able to source.

To my knowledge, every body had gotten what they asked for.

As for Tark, as you know, yours was a special order involving an R8 badge for the rear too which I went out of my way for and sourced else ware. I trust you received this or have you elected to leave that part out to make a bigger impact? When the issue was resolved and your steering wheel badge finally did arrive, it was forwarded on immediately (a little over a week after the R8 one). I had heard absolutely nothing from you until now so naturally assumed you had everything you asked for, if belated.

The latter obviously never turned up so lets get this sorted out. PM me and we can get the ball rolling for a replacement or a refund. Your choice.
As I said, I'm not here to rob anybody. I did what I thought was a good deed and no more.

I'm sorry if this appears harsh but to hear nothing for months and then to read this on a public forum has got my back up a little to say the least.

Just to add Tattooboy also received his stuff too.

It all looks fantastic but................Log book and Tax Disc still tell you it's a Vauxhall.

I agree the Vauxhall bonnet and boot badges are massive and don't look that fantastic, and will admit I have removed mine.

I do think Vauxhall should look at another way of badging, but that is down to them.
