As it's a week later than the shortest night we should do East to West to give ourselves a sporting chance. It won't be a contest,  that would be racing  : so there may well be a winner but the criteria will be secret until we arrive at Lands End. There will be at least one trophy to be won. That will give us all day Sunday to recover/ find our way home. If this works out as well as it sounds it could become an annual challenge  yes yes june the 30th in the diary can't wait

This is the kind of crazy  that I like to hitch my wagon to. I'm in...!   One on condition that I'm allowed to use a sat nav else I'm liable to end up in John O'Groats

I'm not that bad at navigation actually. I'm smart enough to know that roads starting with 1 head north, 2 go east, 3 south and 4 westward so with a compass I probably could navigate myself to Lands ends without too much trouble.

I think without sat nav. How funny would it be seeing someone comin the other way and thinking "one of us is going the wrong way
