Just put super sports on the rears thanks to recommendations on this forum and very happy with the result.

Also, just had new pads and discs all round...ouch! Baked beans on toast for me this month!

Thinking of buying a couple of tyres from CamSkill - assume you then take these to a local fitter to fit - how much roughly would fitment per wheel be?

I usually pay £10 (cash, no invoice wink ) per corner including valve and balance usually. Some places charge £15 or even £20. Best place to look for the going rate is with places like Black Circles, where they give prices for mail order or fully fitted. Deduct one from the other, and you have the price of fitting. smile

Maxxis maz1 victra are the loudest tyres I've ever ran, hopefully a few miles will take the edge off them.

Probably wont tbh

I've found some places are very funny about fitting tyres they haven't supplied - and more importantly - our wheels need the tyre to be reverse mounted (i.e - from behind) so if they don't have a machine that can do this, they'll scratch your wheels if they're not very careful.

Because it says so in the Wheel?

Various reasons but to do with the design of the wheel I think. I think some BMWs are the same too

Basically it's the wheels design it's back to front compared with most conventional rims.

It's to do with the width and the offset as much as anything. Because the wheels are so wide with a high offset, it's in order to give strength to the unsupported inboard part, the tyre well is at the back rather than the front.

As to the fitting, a normal machine is fine, as long as it can take 19" (or 20 for some) wheels. After the bead is broken on both sides, the wheel is placed face down on the machine, gripped, and the tyre removed.teacher

It's how the wheel is gripped that can cause issues - As mine are painted it was a real butt clencher but the garage promised to pay for any damage, so I was OK

yes It's okay, if they still have the rubber covers on the machine claws. Unfortunately, these wear out, and seldom get replaced. A bit of slip on the rear goes un-noticed, but if it's on the facing rim, then woe betide the tyre fitter. hehe

I use rags on the jaws & a bit of tlc to make sure they don't slip & have never had an issue including on snoweys painted rims smile
