But that means quite a lot of pennies to take the box out, then you might as well do the clutch and the slave cylinder while you're at it .......... and you still can't guarantee that the replacement won't fail either. I'd prefer the "if it aint broke, don't fix it approach" Money doesn't grow on trees round here mate. As I type MF are replacing my spigot bearing, clutch etc. I figured that, having got to 92,000 miles without issue, I didn't want to push my luck too much further. Not cheap, but less expensive than the alternative I think. Understand the replacement might fail, of course. I wonder if there is some sort of inverse relationship between spigot bearing failure and the amount of use the car gets? Seems that quite a few of you who are reporting failure have quite low mileage, whereas cars used a lot seem to get the failure (if at all) at quite high mileage. Probably no relationship at all... from what i have seen it does seam that the more miles the car has done the longer the bearing lasts.

I just select a forward gear first and it's fine Mines just the same (MM6), can`t select reverse from cold without selecting a forward gear 1st, not been too worried tbh as everything else seems fine(famous last words ?). Mines the same too, intermittent. Never paid it much thought, just regarded it as "one of those things" with these cars. Bit like the air con!
