Just ordered 2 from Mytyres £170.00 each, will update when fitted and done a few miles.

Camskill said they were not available in the UK, these are coming from Germany.

I know people don't like them on the Monaro, I had Falken 452's on my CL 55AMG for years with no problems, I find the bridgestone's scary in the wet, a recent trip from London to York in heavy rain was not a pleasant experience, very bad aquaplaning in straight lines through standing water (spare underpants required). and losing the back end exiting roundabouts even though its an auto and light throttle.

I have the 452's on the back of my R8 and have so far not had a single glitch with them very good grip even under heavy acceleration with controlled and predictable back end movement. No issues on corners or bends ... the only thing is they are slightly narrower than the Goodyear F1's I previously had and speaking to a few they have said Falkens come up about 10mm shy of the quoted width. Have done 1500 miles on them now including Le Mans and back.

I've just put 453's on the front as eventually the 452's are been replaced by these

The reviews say the 453's are a better Tyre so for £20.00 more I went for them.

WARNING!!

You will skid off the road in a burning fireball before shooting through the air, Dukes of Hazzard stylee, and coming to rest upside down in a swamp, or worse, a cesspit.

As I have several times already.

Next time I'm going to spend an absolute fortune on the best of the best of the best.

451/452/912 have all tram lined from new and become unstable very early in their life IME.

No experience with the 453(?) though. New model I take it...?

Having experienced 452's on an r8 (on pedders) I can assure you when getting low they are unpredictable & nervous (where at 3-4mm) on the other hand on my wife's Astra they were fine until they hit around the same level & now the car has become quite skittish in the wet it & the traction control kicks in a lot more often, it seems the grip goes away as they wear down earlier than on other tyres as well as wearing at a rather alarming rate yikes got 20k out the contis that were on the front & @ 8k out the falkens.
453's are I'm told much better like any evolution they should be smile

Done about 5k on them now. They are far Superiour in the wet I can go through standing water without a twitch. They are not as soft as the Bridgestones , but are very predictable , the tyre pressures on the front ( bridgestones ) make a huge difference to the handeling.

I have Continental sport contact 5Ps on mine. Great in the wet, brilliant in the dry.

Could the car have been aquaplaning due to a lack of tread though? scratchchin

It rear tyres time for me now too (what again! that came around quick).

For the mid price options the choice to me seems: Falken 452 or Falken 453. The 453 claims to be better - by Falken though. In the past I've looked Khumo KU31 too, but never used them.

I previously found the Falken 452 to be fine for my style of driving i.e. I could not notice a difference from the Bridgstones, other than around £100 each less.

The Khumo claim they have rim protection which sounds attractive as the VXR8 is the worst car I've had for catching the kerb!

What should I get?

Thanks, Steve

Before seeing the light and buying a monaro I ran a number of tuned nissan 200`s - all on 452`s

Last one was 420hp / 440 ftlbs - on a 2 litre it was pretty fierce. Always found the tyres good. Maybe a littl e prone to spin up in the wet but very good value imho
