Well its been a while, and for those that don't know me I sold my Ro to appear in Johnny English... ...Sadly it didn't make the cut. I sold up due to a enforced career change, and a new baby. Now, nearly 2 years later, my new business is doing well, and baby is now a 20 month old toddler... So, I have 2 options. Do I stick a V8 (probably lexus LS400)in my work truck? Or buy an R8 for the Mrs? I will only get to drive it at weekends but it won't be doing many miles, only to the station and back... Will I be happy, or should I just "convert" my truck to enjoy a V8 on a daily basis? PS This is me: and www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqcbiXpSYfg&feature=channel&list=UL

I don't know whether to be upset or relieved! Either way, my old car has a new owner now. I don't know if he frequents the forum or not... Hope all's well with it. No reason why it shouldn't. So back to the thread, do I V8 a Hilux Surf or get an R8 for the mrs?

If you V8 your truck, will you really get to enjoy it, or will it just become a powerful workhorse? I would go with the '8 for the missus (but I would say that, as it's what I did). You get to play at weekends, when you can appreciate the power it has.

Won the class (but disputed by Mel) for unmodified NA Monaro... ETA Oops, thought the response was at me. Either way my reply still stands!

I wouldn't have thought so, so I'll still need a work horse. Looks like I'll get to polish a weekend car and the mrs gets to moan about having to put fuel in it...

I don't think I'd dare change gear again after that! I count myself lucky. She used to have Porsches, and the cost would have only covered a gearbox on one of those.

Be nice to see you back in the fold Wolfie! There was a nice Black crewman for sale recently which would have done the job a treat for you, and petrols cheaper than diesel!

ARAF said: Oooh, that is tempting... Is the gen lll engine same as the LS1? It sort of looks right, but wrong at the same time! Can't quite get my head around it! Says it can tow 2.5T, so that answers my question earlier... Do many come up Gareth? I see that auction ends tomorrow, and I don't think I'll be ready to commit by then, but maybe the next one that comes up? Will be interesting to see what it goes for compared to a standard Ro.
