Made a poorly recorded clip, just mounted the phone on the dash behind the steering wheel and used the voice recorder. You lose some of the bass of the roar, but you get the idea cloud9

For the record, that's not my apple product...

Desperately needs a nice moulded surround though. Do they offer one?

Beauty of the Duspeed is that it comes with the surround all built in.

You just cut the radiator shroud, so it flows around the intake. That's what I did (pics somewhere floating around on t'internet). It is a very nice piece of kit smile

But it's so nice being able to see things smile

There isn't one, generally just cut the existing one, but I want to get 007's best friends the carbon wezzels to make up a moulded one in CF rather than use the nasty black plastic one.

As for the noise improvement, this surprised me a lot, above 4k at WOT it basically gives the engine a deep rumbling roar. I'll try to sort a video of it, as I have a sound recording but it's a useless format it seems...

They take air from the front of the car. The colder intake charge has a higher density than hot air from a heat soaked filter box in the engine compartment. Therefore more oxygen, thus better performance at high speeds and WOT (Wide open throttle) situations. It's been proven that many of these "Over The Radiator Cold Air Intakes" (OTRCAI) can increase top speeds and acceleration.

Sound deepens apparently as well ( not that I would be bothered with this aspect) and I don't notice a difference with mine.

Ta! Just checking this against the X-Air Unit which looks to be a larger cross section, although hellishly more expensive.

The Svede unit does appear to be relatively good value for money against the Duspeed and X-Air.

The guys at x air are great, really friendly, but yeh, the costs shipped were just too great.

The sound is wildly different on mine, you'd be hard pushed not to notice, must vary by installation?

Can you give us an idea of the all in priced shipped to you, and any complications during fitting? Cheers smile

I certainly can, I went for the CF finish which is extra, and also the filter cleaning kit, updated IAT sensor and associated breakout harness.

All in all came to about $640, then stung for about £40 customs charges, so about £450. The topic gsd linked to earlier has instructions for making your own I believe, if you're handy like that thumbup

Fitting was a breeze, everything needed comes with it (jubilee clips, hose etc.) very simple install.

Hardest bit was probably just fitting it in physically, as it's a tight enough fit, but the hose is flexible so it wasn't a problem.

Cheers for that mate.

I'm not bothered about that carbon stuff, and I've got a cleaning kit, so it may workout a bit cheaper thumbup

Yeah the black gel coat is over $100 cheaper, so you're in for a bargain.

I've recorded the sound, but I suppose without a before video to compare it's not much use.

Either way, that's recorded from in the car and the induction roar is a very welcome new addition to the Monaro Orchestra.
