with the sudden in flux of Monaro owners wanting to upgrade there audio system i thought i i would put this up as it will answer a number of questions people have.

the factory door and rear card speakers are 6 Inch in size 15.2cm for those who don’t understand inches

the closest replacement size you can now get is 6.5 Inches 16.5. it all sounds stright forward so far?? wrong. the issue with aftermarket speakers is getting them to fit inside the speaker pods in the door doors and the holes in the rear with out having to take a saw to the car. the way to get around this is to buy speakers that will fit.

here is the internal / mounting sizes of the factory speakers you need to match or get as close as possible to.

Mounting Depth 60MM / 6CM / 2.5 Inches

Mounting Width (the size of the hole you would have to cut into a bit of wood to make the speaker mount flush) 125mm / 12.5cm / 4 7/8 Inch

the mounting depth is not so much of an issue its the mounting width you will struggle with. what i have found is speakers with the mounting width of 127mm / 12.7cm / 5inch will fit with the aid of some 6mm MDF spacers
