That seems a little steep, even for 10 of them!

Haha, very steep if comparing to the rest of the assembly, even worse if you're ordering one piece @ $25!!

I've only ordered one new key and will be very happy with an all in cost of around £15, it's only a few quid more to have the 'correct' insert smile

Yeah, fair point.

I did one key fob first just make sure I still had an original if I cocked it up, or if the quality was garbage.

Fortunately, it's pretty simple, so I ordered the second.

If there is interest in the sticker group buy, then I'll have two to finish off the job!

Replaced both of mine last night with these Chinese replicas. Impressed with the quality and straight forward to replace. The screw behind the logo that holds the key section of the fob together is bigger and feels more robust than the original.

Only problem I found was that on one of the fobs, the rubber nodule behind the 'Unlock' button was ever so slightly to short which meant that I had to depress the unlock button firmly for it to contact with the button the circuit board. I place a tiny bit of glue from a glue gun on the tip of the nodule to lengthen it and all is good.

My key arrived yesterday - have you guys reused the old key blade or cut the new one to match?

Swapping the remote parts looks easy enough, but haven't seen a guide to swapping the immobiliser / key blade bit yet.

The blade detaches from the head - you need to remove the pin with a small drift or precision screw driver then put the original blade on the new head provided.

The transponder chip just pulls out, you will see it in the key part of the housing

I also received a couple from China today - I've changed the key blade over but am not sure how to go about extracting the transponder...

thankfully for now the section of the key with the transponder in is still useable so I've got a bit of a hybrid, but at least the keys flips out now when required!

I found the transponder to be a tight fit in the fob and ended up breaking the fob with needle nose pliers to extract it safely. I didn't want to risk damaging the transponder.

Yep - that's what I was considering

That's what I did.

Once I'd changed the key blade, I was happy that the old key would go in the bin.

So, as others have said, using needle nose pliers, I basically snapped off the outside part of the moulding, being careful not to damage the transponder chip.

There's 9 years of dust, skin, pocket/handbag detritus etc in there remember!!!

Eventually, after butchering enough of the moulding, the transponder chip slid out and popped straight in to the new key.

Forgot to add that the HRT key fob stickers turned up from somewhere in Eastern Europe.

They are slightly smaller than the aperture, but not by much. They are also '3D' style, so look pretty good.

Job done.

I got one of these but only changed the key blade over now it shows immobilised, the wierdest thing the transponder works cos i tried it on my spare
If i put my old key blade with new head in ignition but place the keyblade of my spare key on the old keyblade but new head it starts car and drives even when i remove my spare key from touching, but switch it off put spare kit out of the way it wont have it
Its as if the keyblade needs programming ?????
Any ideas please

Quick update - the first key took me almost an hour to switch over, the second took just 5 minutes. It's very easy once you're confident with what you're doing.

These Chinese replacement keys are highly recommended, I decided to use the spring from the OEM key as it winds on a little more tension, but otherwise they're great.

The HRT stickers from Eastern Europe aren't a great fit (1-2mm too small) but they'll do...

Have to agree about the stickers.

Are we allowed to say 'it'll do' on this forum?!

Made the change from my old key to a new one last week. Very fiddly and the transponder was a total P.I.T.A to remove, was sure I had damaged it.
However, all good and everything works fine. Took me a couple of hours, but like others have said, would be able to do another a lot quicker next time.
