There's a LOT of inaccuracies in that passage. First and foremost is at he first sign or smell of fire its masks on and mayday.Secondly the Swissair crew wasted all the time they needed to get on the ground deciding to and then dumping fuel. Neither pilots were at the controls at impact, totally unforgivable, the second they left everyone was dead. I know where I would be found.
Thirdly he's proposing a theory that the Captain flew past at least 2 nearer and suitable airports, ala Aircanada, in his write up.
I think it will remain a modern day mystery, which is exactly what was intended.
