Local companies in Queensland, one specialist, one Holden dealer (at trade price). Those bearings on ebay were too dear.

Looking forward to an exchange rate of over $2 to the pound....... hopefully.

i got a little more work done, removed all the accessories, crank pulley and took the timing cover off to offer up the timing chain guide

a very poor dark photo

but it looks like my Katech/GM timing chain guide does not fit. I am making the assumption that i have a later ls1 block as the hole centres for the block match up to an ls2 timing chain guide. I know Kmud fitted an adapter to his LS1 to fit an ls2 timing guide, so the blocks seem to differ between the same year of manufacture

This is my timing chain guide that i purchased from Katech

My plan is to try and get some more work done on Friday, and im also debating if i should paint the block. Im thinking either red or chevy orange like the LSX block
