Nice to meet you today. You should have sent more guys over to say hello (it's hard to step away from the pits, as the schedule is a bit hit and miss!). My day ended after the gearbox sprang a leak. Shame, cause I could have tried my luck against a couple of you Power tour guys wink
Yes like wise mate thumbup
Had a really good chat and nearly made you miss your next run hehe
The Audi was really running sweet shame it had to end that way frown
Hope she's an easy fix yes

anyway a little update hopefully not a worst case scenario (fingers crossed)

my little mishap was doing an araf (putting car in wrong gear cry ). while doing the tunnel run on saturday night.
car drove ok after doing this (no misfire etc). so thought i was very lucky to get away with it.

then after driving all the way home yesterday back to edinburgh i caught some traffic just before where i stay and off
goes the mfd flashing red at me about the water temperature i seen 126 degrees before i turned the car off.

went out today to look at the car, radiator level is fine but no coolant in the expansion tank eek
thought thats it blown the head casket cry
was scensoredg myself while unscrewing the oil cap,but to my surprise nothing cap is fine and very clean when looking in the hole.
now the car has done 300 miles since the mishap surley there would have been some evidence by this time if it was the
head casket ? confused

topped up the expansion tank.then started the car up. let her idle for a few minutes. then took her for a spin.
when crawling along or stopped the temps started shooting up again.frown

so stop open the bonnet turns out this is not working now banghead

the radiator fan is not kicking in, even let the water hit 100 degrees and nothing.

think i am just lucky with cars, my only concern is what happend to the coolant that was in the expansion tank ?

no loose hoses (i think) the radiator is fitted with some fancy swirl pots / piping / head / plenum cooling kit

A wee vid of our drive, I apologize in advance for the language and the sound quality in places! typical sweary Scott and no idea of how to limit the wind noise on a go pro! (even packed the case with sponge this time to try to stop it)

When I had the HG issue on my engine the water was going into the sump. cry

Hopefully that's not what's happening in your case. Are you sure there isn't any air locks in the system?

Not sure if it's advisable with your engine but have you tried letting it idle with the rad cap off?

Maybe put a post up in the japchat section as you might get more specific advise smile

Failing that I hear sweet and sour chicken is quite nice with steamed rice hehe
