Well have fun and post ya times as I've dropped out. Too much on and taking the car around Europe the following weekend so decided to play safe and not try to blow the dame thing up just before we go as I know I will drive it very hard.

For an LS2 Monaro VXR with a 6500rpm rev limit i get the following numbers

Gear ratios

1st = 2.970 2nd = 2.070 3rd = 1.430 4th = 1.000 5th = 0.840 6th = 0.560 Diff = 3.460

Wheels

245/35/19

1st Gear = 48 mph
2nd Gear = 70 mph
3rd Gear = 101 mph
4th Gear = 144 mph
5th Gear = 171 mph
6th Gear = 257 mph

Wheels

1st Gear = 57 mph
2nd Gear = 86 mph
3rd Gear = 118 mph
4th Gear = 153 mph
5th Gear = 207 mph
6th Gear = 306 mph
Can you run those figures for me with a 3.07 diff on CV8 gears?

235/40/18 tyres
7k rev limit
CV8 gearing
3.07 diff gears

1st Gear = 65 mph
2nd Gear = 97 mph
3rd Gear = 133 mph
4th Gear = 172 mph
5th Gear = 233 mph
6th Gear = 345 mph

Everything was calculated using a gear calculator

VXR gearbox,
7k rev limit,
3.07 diff,
235/40/18 tyres

1st Gear = 58 mph
2nd Gear = 83 mph
3rd Gear = 120 mph
4th Gear = 172 mph
5th Gear = 205 mph
6th Gear = 308 mph

VXR gearbox,
7k rev limit,
3.07 diff,
245/35/19 tyres

1st Gear = 59 mph
2nd Gear = 84 mph
3rd Gear = 122 mph
4th Gear = 175 mph
5th Gear = 208 mph
6th Gear = 312 mph

So in my opinion a CV8 box with 3.46 gears and a 7k rev limit looks like a good combo for mile work, but if you have a VXR then a 3.07 diff looks like a good upgrade to provide the taller 5th gear

I've calculated mine but can you run the following to see if my calculator is the same as yours???

Standard 4L65E
3.9 diff gears
upto 6750 RPM say
tyre is 245/40/18 so I figured that was 25.7 inches in old money for Mich PSS

Cheers!

Yep - same as mine - should be interesting !!! But I don't have the power to pull flat out in 4th in just 1 mile. Should be in 4th by half way point though ;-)Still would have loved to have run the ute!!!!

Guess what I'm running smile The actual speed running 285/35/19's is 206 on the limiter so the gearcalc app you are using is a little optimistic.

Sorry, yes.
I use the Ogden app. It's also a little out. However at these speeds the difference between new and old tyres is worth up to 5 mph so it's never going to be an exact science.

To 30% of those attending, good luck with the gearbox/engine rebuilds. It would be 33% but I believe Araf has an auto now
My clutch is slipping after 60,000 of abuse so Ill be taking it easy. Or if Im lucky will have a new clutch in..
Dont be Gay, put a new one in hehe
Dont worry, new clutch is in hand. Will be there with the old one.

Will replace after the run as I dont have time beforehand frown

I see you chickened out mate!? Did you run last time? If so what speed?

Typical. Now you have an equal weighted car and not a 200Kg weight advantage!

whats the betting he looked at when TR was booked then booked his trip so he could avoid it with a valid excuse? At least I am barred from the event as you VX lot are scared a 20 year old car can beat you with less power
