last year was great fun - the drive down was quite interesting to following emmaj.

best part was going against a 350hp 4wd astra gte on the 1st run.


he asked me afterwards if it was supercharged or modified.
me "only cat back and air filter"
Him " so, do you have some special sticky tyres on there"
Me " no, just normal continentals"

look on his face. priceless. I don't think he was happy I bet him to 60-70ish. he came flying past mid-range and then I reeled him in top end but not enough runway to catch.

RAF Odiham Car Club used to run some on their runway, but their site seems to be dead, with no updates since 2012. I know that Fluffsri used to organise them, but he may have moved on to another base now.

Failing that, Javelin have equipment and I think still work with Vauxhall on Thunder Road, so maybe they have other events planned?

Heres a question...what speed should a R8 with cat back and filter reach ? I've still got the 155 limiter on so will I not get that fast in the mile or will I spend the last few yards popping off the limiter ??

As you've suspected, on a good run, you'll be close to the limiter in 5th at the end, which is just about 155. With virtually no modifications, you'll be doing well to get to that, so I wouldn't bother changing anything for this one. If you had Mo Farah sorry, more power, then you might want to think about getting the rev limiter lifted, though personally if that were the case, I'd run oversized rear tyres there, so the car would still think it was below the limiter.

This is theoretical though. I've not managed to reach the limiter. You might want to wait for answers from those who have done it in practice.
