V8 heads,

does anyone know whether the headers from a LS1 VXR would be an upgrade over the headers fitted to the LS1 CV8? Any useful knowledge gratefully received.

thanks,
Cods

Yes. The tube headers are better than the cast ones that are standard on the CV8.

Thanks ARAF beer

I take it they are a straight swap for the current CV8 headers? The rest of the exhaust is getting changed, so it's only the mounting onto the engine side of things that I'm concerned about getting right smile

Not sure unfortunately. We are looking at the same solution to the cast headers we have on the truck, but until we have a set and measure them, we cannot be certain.

I'm sure I remember reading on here about the 5.7 VXR Monaro headers being a straight swap onto a CV8, but no idea if the LS2 VXR Monaro used the same ones. Someone here must have tried....

I'm not sure if the cast manifolds are the same for LS1 and LS2. The HSV LS1 tubular headers should be a straight swop as long as you have the Cats that go with them, as the pipework for the cast manifolds is different until you reach the catback.

Well, I've bought the LS1 VXR headers and will be collecting them later this week (hopefully). I'll let you all know whether they fit or not. ARAF, since you're local you're welcome to measure them up for your Ute too.

Thanks, I've got some LS3 ones on the way. wink Assuming you are doing them yourself, if you want a hand, I'm only about 15 miles from you, I think. smile

I'd appreciate a hand fitting them. Having read the below link, I think it'd come untuck doing them by myself.

I have a friend in Eythorne (just off the A2 for Dover) with a two post lift, so at least access should be okay.
