The bombers going back as it was with some minor tweaks, to be used as a test bed for my other one thats going to be started over the coming few years.
The plan is to take it to the salt flats, so big power and traction, capable of sub 10 quarters and big numbers over the mile.
It'll be at least a 2-3 year paper build.
Mid engine and who knows, maybe even electric as the tech becomes more accessible.
I assume traction on salt would mean very different setup than traction on tarmac ?The plan is to take it to the salt flats, so big power and traction, capable of sub 10 quarters and big numbers over the mile.

From watching some salt flat stuff...it seems traction is pretty much non existent there.
Be better sticking a jet engine in it lol

Another LS7? I would have thought you'd be better off with an LSX ?No, it's better to understand the build before you commit resources in any direction.
The new build will be centered around an LS9 block which I already have.
For the time being its record useage and look at hardware/tune.
I do agree about the LS7 though, seems Hennesey can't get reliability either.

The car gets hot enough as it is. An LSX is a crude fix IMO.

Hardly a crude fix if it works. LS7 was designed to do a specific job, LSX another. I have an LSA which is the same as an LS9 albeit with 1mm smaller head studs, doesn't run much cooler than the LQ9 I had before and if I were going for really big power, I'd follow Arnie. LSX376-B15 all the way.

More resistant to potential issues that could arise with the huge heat it will have to cope with
But GM designed the LS9 for 620HP, the LSX was designed by GMPP for 1000HP. If you want to get rid of heat, get a bigger radiator! I ran an LQ9 which ran at the same temp as my previous LS1. wormus said:

But Jez is talking a mid mounted turbocharged monster build to run in one of the hottest places on earthHeat management will be his biggest headache

Not sure what the position of the engine has to do with anything. If you are talking salt flats, he's probably better off building a quick bike for a 10th cost!
Engine in the middle is much harder to cool, even more so when aero is involved as massive side pods for cooling also add dragAlso as this is a dive into the unknown a block that is resilient will be needed as it will likely be getting rebuilt at least once!
Off topic but this takes some beating over the mile: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BT2JjzHa-c

Impressive, but not exactly safe was it.Anything I do from now on is safety first as I take a long time to heal now
