Two nice looking vxr8s at elite.......
Discussion
erm Jez, what exactly was the problem with my post, seems pretty reasonable to discuss what the car had previously been sold for? Yes it needed a couple of grand spent on it to bring it up to scratch but is it really worth 7k more now? Its not like precious metal doesn't publicise the fact he'll offer 12.5k for VXR8's - you just need to look at his pistonheads adverts! So why should it be an issue me pointing out that's what was paid when he bought the blue one from Tommy? Or at least that's what Tommy told us he sold it for - couple of us did say when we found out that's all he was getting we'd have looked at maybe offering him a bit more (it was cheap for a supercharged car).
Oh and the process for moderation seems to have fallen by the wayside, pretty sure when posts are edited the original poster is supposed to be notified with the reason - no email received here, I've checked :-)

theres nowt up with a seller trying to chance his arm with a sale, just seems weird how LS2 prices seem to be rising, especially with high miles and mods as we know mods dont tend to increase a price but can harm it. I doubt cars will sell at near 20k nearly 7 years on when vx dumped them at 24k 5 years ago but a limited number of cars its a sellers market.... but a limited number of buyersOh and the process for moderation seems to have fallen by the wayside, pretty sure when posts are edited the original poster is supposed to be notified with the reason - no email received here, I've checked :-)

Bob, FYI - I asked for the post to be ammended as your facts and figures were wrong. as you weren't involved in the sale its best you don't comment false facts. car was advertised on the net and sold last year for around 15k but required about 2.5k of work (alloys, tyres, A/C, Exhaust etc) plus cars been further modded and prices have gone up so car owes me 18.5k + so not exactly a huge margin is it 5% not sure what you problem is.Oh and the process for moderation seems to have fallen by the wayside, pretty sure when posts are edited the original poster is supposed to be notified with the reason - no email received here, I've checked :-)
can only go with what we were told the car sold for by the previous owner, if that info is wrong then I'm more than happy to offer my apologies, not sure why he'd tell us the wrong figure but will ask next time I'm speaking to him. Yes, he also told us it was needing a couple of 2k spent on it for brakes etc as I recall so again yes your costs did increase, but we're constantly being told service parts and mods don't add value. As for asking for the post to be edited, if you'd asked me I'd have edited it myself to reflect your input. The issue here is that the post was edited with no reason or explanation given, my follow up post was highlighting that there should be no reason for it to be edited if it was simply to "cover up" the price I had quoted. There was no mention of a discrepancy in the prices quoted hence my further input.

Had I deleted your post, yes I would have emailed you, as it was just and edit, its clear to see what was done. Under these circumstances it's not our policy to email.
Hope that clears that up.
Edited to add after giving it some thought.
Actually Bob, you're right , I should have emailed you in this instance.
My apologies mate.

Nice ones are becoming hard to find & as quite possibly the highest regarded dealer of them in the uk precious can charge a premium over other dealers as people are buying his garantee as someone who understands the cars that what your buying is a good example
Many have bought cars off him on here & I've heard nothing but praise for him imho that justifys paying a bit extra

I don't get why ls2 prices are so high either. The difference in price between ls2 and ls3 12 months back was pretty big. It will soon be cheaper to buy a gen f than a 5 year old vxr8. The e3 used prices having budged in the last couple years. Wait till October and they will be selling at less than £10k The last price for the car is irrelevant. The market has moved on. It depresses for the last quarter of each year, and then rises again in the spring.
If you compare any of Elite's stock to the rest that are currently for sale, you won't find it out of kilter.
As for mods not adding anything to the value, if a car is priced according to the fact that it needs £2k thrown at it, and then that happens, does that not realign the price with others?

Even my post got edited but dammed if I can remember what it originally said!
Dealers have to make money, it's their business and if you need to sell they don't mess about. Brought mine at below dealer price as I asked about and had cash waiting, probably the best way or at least the cheapest way to buy if cost is the only consideration. Some like warentees, a bit of comeback if needed and a free tank of gas!
