I live on a main A road which is a pig to get out my drive. Waited patiently for a gap so I could reverse out, A van slowed right down about 4-5 houses up and flashed me to go. Little did I know he was flashing the old boy across the road to pull out his drive from behind a hedge.He must have floored it forwards as I floored it backwards. A resounding crunch with him hitting my rear quarter hard enough to face the van completely the other way
Poor old boy was pretty shook up and every single airbag went off and the damage is pretty vast for two cars that travelled about 20 yards before impact. While I think we both at fault, I cant help feeling he should have seen me reversing as I was waiting with half the van across the road already so when he pulled out his drive surely he looked and thought I will let that big van go first as I can see him but he probably cant see me out his windowless rear doors ?????
The guv is gonna be pissed

Yes and no. We are a family run business so work with my wife and father in law. I popped home for lunch between jobs which we do often enough. I have the van 24/7 with personal use, its just I can see the spin of 'it wouldn't have happened if you weren't at home' coming.Were you supposed to be at home at the time?
