Very nice indeed Stig. Did you investigate the black one with the pfadt suspension? Hi Rob
not sure if you are looking at z06's as you asked about the black one for sale. Happy to discuss my findings on the car which may or may not save you a trip
For me buying a car is like buying a house or anything, you know instantly if its for you or not.
The lad selling the car is lovely to chat to and really knows his stuff but for me the car had been modded too much towards track bias. To be honest it doesn't take much for me to class a car as too modded as I like stock anyway. I didn't get to drive it due to insurance but it crashed and bumped with knocks from the rear due to the race style bushes, however, its a simple swap to standard and Jon said he would happily do it but by that point I was walking in my mind.
It also has a quick shifter which vibrates and rattles making the cabin not too enjoyable - again he said he could swap back to standard but this requires taking the centre console out, clearly this has been done as the instrument cluster no longer mated up to the dash top section.
Sitting in the car it felt like it had been driven rather than pampered. It was good but in need of a deep clean. To me if I was selling a 30k+ car I would have it show room condition. Certainly it is looked after but he's an engineer and track fan. Its just as a buyer you don't want to turn up to a car needing a wash or valet but on the flip side you can tell mechanically it is very well looked after.
Some other concerns were the big brake kit, it requires the wish bones to be trimmed back and well that to me is, regardless of what anyone might say, a bit of a concern.
The deal is 30k gets the car with brakes back to standard then around 2 to 2.5k for the big brake kit, spare discs and a set of Goodyear F2 tyres. I am certain there is room for negotiation.
When I was saying to him I didn't want the car he did obviously want to allay concerns by saying the bushes really transform the car and that the quick shifter etc too made a huge difference.
My response is my car is stock which means I know what's what and maintenance shouldn't be an issue. The stock gear change on my MY06 is brilliant and short enough as it is. The handling is fantastic, the ride not crashy and the steering is positive. The cabin is as if it is new. I spent 32k in the end on a stock car with no spare tyres because it felt absolutely right.
Sure the poly bushes may improve handling further but as I am not a track addict it isn't an issue and stock the car is the 10th fastest round the ring so is that saying something?
I had been told the black one had not been tracked much but I question why you would spend so much to modify a car for little track use and why is the replacement car to be a track focussed toy? Also the front end had been sprayed due to track debris/chips which suggests more than a handful of track days
In the end I am glad I got mine its the much better car but that's not to say the black couldn't be tidied up, I just didn't want to be the one to do it and someone will buy it and be very happy.
Best of luck with yours and enjoy a new order of performance (<1400kg and 325 section rubber). Will make your palms clammy if the road is cold or damp

Width and LH drive being the only concerns
One thing I've noticed as I've been in a lot of convoys with wide LHD cars over the last 2 years, that on the narrower stuff, you're actually at an advantage because you're perfectly positioned to really snug the car up to the left hand side of the road giving maximum possible clearance for the oncoming traffic. And in a Corvette, overtaking is not going to be an issue!
As I said, just something I've noticed from convoying with people
stig, lovely car, great choice
I'd be inclined to agree with you on the track biased nature people go for. Our roads are crap, you want something supple
