Looks like total burnt cars was 6..... on the grape vine. 3 "boys" / young lads all got lighter fluid from the petrol staion yesturday (on cctv) so we will see.
Trouble is even if they catch them they will only get a slap on the wrist it will still cost the victims a fortune when their insurance renewals come up & that's without the huge stress & incovieniance it causes SturdyHSV said:
1UZ-FE? Based only on the fact it's a DOHC V8 and it's not a Coyote (maybe)
I think you'll find that it's the Mercury powerboat engine based on the old GM DOHC V8 - hence my previous comment.http://www.mercuryracing.com/sterndrives/#engines

What's that old DOHC V8? If it's the Northstar, that's a much smaller engine and no relation. This is all Mercury's own design, but with many ideas taken from others I'm sure. It's a big motor. Some commonality with a metric BB chev, but with larger bore spacing and 4.57 bores as standard. 9.0l even with a relatively short stroke.
Designed for turbocharging from the outset, with three standard outputs 1100, 1350 & 1600 HP. Continuous rating at the first two, which no tuner engine could hope to reliably maintain.
High CoG, 300kg+ & $68000 unfortunately.

That's one big block, but I think you'll find that the engine DNA is LT5 - which was assembled by Mercury for the Corvette, 25 years ago.If it's myth rather than fact, then please put me right.

No, sorry, the QC4v is not related in any way. It was unveiled in 2012. The bore itself is significantly larger than the Lt5's bore spacing. The block is bespoke and must be huge - 5" bore spacing at least I'd guess. But they don't reveal who casts it or whether it is an entire CNC fabrication. If it's myth rather than fact, then please put me right.
Mercury did indeed assemble the 400hp GM / Lotus LT5, 25 years ago.
