That's why I bought my first house there - get a lot for the money. That looks small from the front but goes back quite a way - bargain! Looks far enough away from the High Street so should be alright - don't know that area so well as I was the other side but there is a big park just up the road too. Easy access out onto A249 from there, as long as you don't go out in rush hour as it gets completely grid locked.

But the other one looked alright though? Cant hurt to look, but you'll probably get an early impression from the area...

I prefer the first house...yes
Don't know the area at all, but the property looks as though it has loads of character...
The single window above looks lonely though hehe

I'd try for PP to take down the garage, and re-build to the roofline, with integral garage an extra bedroom upstairs, and family/en suite bathrooms. The downstairs bathroom becomes a utility room, the stairs would be turned 90 degrees, and downstairs space reallocated with an open plan lounge area with kitchen/diner at one end.

It would cost a bit, but if the area can stand a property like that, it would make a few quid.
