PS. Where are you planning to do your 4th gear pulls? hehe
Sooooo much to learn, but really interesting for me smile

Luckily it was appearing in 3rd gear at "reasonable" speeds biggrin

I might set up another tune to zero out the burst knock retard with the normal timing as well to check whether it is or isn't BKR.

It is, but you've got to want to tinker, and not be too afraid of getting it wrong (and the associated embarrassment when you cock it up in your noisy, attention-grabbing car!). It never seems to end either, especially as there's always the temptation to bolt something else on since you have the power to fiddle with the tune (and not pay someone for the pleasure). It's a shame the EFI live forum is pretty dead these days, joecar is propping it up pretty much on his own.

Just been looking at my logs again, and I remember why I ruled out BKR. It is happening mid gear, sometimes twice in 5th, and there is no sudden change in air volume immediately prior to or during the KR event which would trigger the BKR.

It may be worth zeroing out the burst knock tables anyway, this isn't uncommon practice from my reading, and means that the car only pulls timing if it actually detects some knock.

Naturally log it before and after and see what happens hehe

Thinking about it, I also occasionally get some knock in similar circumstances, although only really notice it at Santa Pod. Seems to happen in the middle of 3rd and 4th, pulls a few degrees every now and then.

Yeah, have seen a lot of recommendations to do this.

I have one tune with the high octane map adjusted {B5101} and one tune with {B1922} & {B1923} zeroed out to disable BKR.

Hmmm, think I might start a new EFILive thread in a bit biggrin

I assume you've also copied the high octane map over the low octane map so that it's not flittering in between the two tables whilst you're trying to test your changes?

Worth doing if not!

Nope, but good call smile

Is it worth just keeping them in sync anyway?

Long-term I don't like taking out safety measures - I'm running a custom OS specifically because you lose the low/high tables running LS1B without a MAF...you may find yourself stuck with low octane fuel some day.

I believe things like headers can make things generally noisier to the point you end up desensitising the knock sensors, but I've not really gone there. Research to be done!

That was my thinking as well. Have started a new thread as well.

Goody? tongue out

That's exactly why he had it for sale. hehe I'm guessing the negotiations were done last weekend. Now he just has to keep his hands off his Ute for the next year, until the Maloo arrives. smile
