I'd have to recommend Monkfish even if it is a trek, has done literally hundreds of LS vehicles & knows all the pitfalls, done mine & it's great, custom operating system, 2 bar mafless tune on a TVS equipped car, so quite far off a simple remap I guess

IMO a local tuner with a dyno is essential if you want something optimal.

Add plenty of time to get cold starts sorted etc and you are heading in the right direction.

This doesnt leave many options. Some local guys dont actually do the tune and dont have dyno's.

Id use that as my filter.
I have someone local in mind, he has a dyno, and comes highly recommended from some of the RS guys. Think I'll start there and give him a call to talk through things. my biggest concern about using a tuner down south was how to get the car down there, after all the parts are bolted on I don't want to risk damaging the engine driving it before it's tuned.

I doubt you will do anything if it's cam only
And mechanically sound.
Just stay away from full throttle.
Fueling will be spot on due to closed loop

Buy efilive off Ringram and get Patrick Guerra to map it for you ($300 US). Top man.

Are you thinking flashscan, or a cheaper box?

do you guys rate this method? I have no experience of mapping this way. I would have thought mapping on a dyno would have been better? what sort of costs are involved in buying efilive, Ringram, could you PM me a cost please?

Yeah but he would need a dyno to get it done optimally.
You can probably find a dyno with wifi and let him control the PC to dial it in.

ok, so EFIlive sounds like a good (but expensive) option for mapping. I cant find a tuner near to me (central scotland) that can map these cars, has anyone had them mapped up here? and Ringram, thank you for the PM, I'll get back to you as soon as I've worked out how I'm doing this.

Headers and cats arrived on Friday afternoon, had it all fitted by Friday night, nice bit of kit. Was really tight to get them in though!! The exhaust system will now need shortened, so I've made 2 small curved pipes to aim the gasses to the ground so I can go for a spin with open headers! All I can say is that was just LOUD but fun. I'll alter the rest of the system tomorrow and then see about getting the cam fitted next weekend. So finally there is progress!! 😝

are the old manifold's and cats of use to anybody? or am I better of taking them to the scrappies?
