Yes, it's all fine. Just making an observation of how a few extra degrees ambient has an exponential affect on AITs which in turn pulls loads of timing and ruins performance. It is the hottest day of the year and I'm running 14psi so not unexpected.

I fancy 70 deg IATs all year round.

How much timing it pulls, is entirely down to who tuned it, and what they deem acceptable.
The higher the CR, lower quality fuel etc etc all give less wiggle room there.

The solution is fairly simple, and twofold.

Huge frontal rad ( and airflow to go with it if required...ie. fans in slow moving traffic if needed ), lots of pump flow capacity.
And/or water/meth injection.

Unfortunately with a valley mount you have a permanent water heater in part of the chargecooling system. So not only are you trying to get rid of any air temperatures, but also the hot engine.

At a push you could rig up a water bypass, and just let the hot engine core get hot when tootling about. Open the throttle and this hot water is immediately dumped in favour of cool water that has been circulating via the front rad/reservoir. That should cool the engine core down fairly rapidly, and also reduce the overall heat soak into the system.

Water/meth is probably easiest all round though, and has the added bonus of lots of resistance to detonation.

Or.. instead of compressing the air into a small space. Create a large space and give it a nice easily travelled path with plenty of time to go in there itself smile

..In the process dumping many kilograms of high center of gravity mounted iron, water, pipes, pulleys and other points of failure smile

I have noticed the fans on mine coming on more than i recall in the past, could this be anything to do with the new bonnet vents ?

As in, it's easier to notice now?

No,
Cant recall hearing the fans more than once or twice in the 1st 5 years of owning the car.
but over the last 18 months almost any time the sun is out even on a short run the fans are coming on scratchchin
Or could this be something to do with the remap after Cam was installed ?

Warmer weather.

The holes in the bonnet simply make the fans more audible. But they would not cause the fans to come on any earlier.

And it is possible the fan off/on parameters were changed during a remap.

will ask Roger about the remap.
cant hear the fans inside the car, only from outside.
they are coming on more, even in cooler weather.

My fans are on most of the time but I guess one of the by products of power, derived from burning more fuel/air is extra heat. I might get my headers plasma coated by Zircotec to see if that makes a difference. I think Mark is getting this done at the same time as as the chiller.

"demonstrated to reduce general underbonnet temperatures by up to 50oC (122oF)" apparently...

Mark, why not start a thread? I'm interested to see how this turns out.

I assume you're driving normally most of the time ? ie the engine isnt making or using any more power than another vehicle at those times.

Then no real reason for the fans to be on excessively. But again comes down to stat, fan turn on/off temps etc

As long as it isnt overheating, or running hotter than normal, then wouldnt worry too much about it.

But if they're on all the time, might be worth having things checked.

The difference is huge!! it really is a fantastic product the only thing is that its better to do it on new parts than used as it can effect the life of the coating

wot will have a different fuel and spark map and a st load more airflow

Still on platinum plugs? That could be a part answer to your slow pick up.

Is it true that you lose the lift-off pop and crackle with these coatings? I seem to remember someone said this at a meet, might've been Moif?
