I watched a C63 being pasted by some old fifties car (street legal) at York. Think the Merc pulled a 12 or 13 on the quarter. About as quick as ringram's £6k Camaro.

Mind you, they're only £600 a month to contract hire...
Was this on the power tour weekend? If so, yep, that's best is about a 12.9, generally doing about 115mph. Was in fact a brabus 'b63' although the brabus tune didn't increase peak power, so it had been remapped and had headers fitted by then, comfortably over 500bhp. Guy can't launch for toffee though, so not necessarily a fair comparison wink

You know standard C63s regularly clock 0-60 in 4.2/3 secs? How much d'you think you'd have to spend to get down from 11 seconds to under 9 for the 0-100?

Look up the word 'potential'. I said a simple remap will give a C63 525. Slap a charger and we're nearing some kind of potential at up to 630. 'Course then things get serious... .

The C6 is the one to go for. A very reliable and strong car, but the prices are holding pretty firm. 700+ BHP can be achieved without breaking a sweat and there are some that are modified more heavily, to around 1000 BHP.
I agree as they do seem to have a good name however..... If something does go wrong I would hazard a guess its going to be serious money to fix.... Eg the gearbox or diffs. They do tend to blend in against another A6 tdi with wheels though which is an issue for me.
I think you're probably right, but if you start pushing the boundaries, you're looking at serious money on either type of car, as you are obviously aware. Then, when things let go. either is very expensive e.g. Wormus' and others' scenarios. I think you have to accept that if you want to start going over 700 BHP, you need to be prepared to spend money, then more money if it breaks. There was a time when I wouldn't have wanted my car to blend in with the TDis, but my current business interests mean that suits me down to the ground and I will probably be de-badging too. I'll start with 700 BHP, but MRC have the upgrades available to go beyond 1000 BHP if required, which would probably be a tad mental. nuts

Don't read any of Goldy or Stick's posts. You'll probably have a heart attack.

Re-read my text. The word potential is correctly used. As in they start with less power and have the potential for more.

As for 630bhp, that's about half of what my Monaro made after slapping a couple of turbos on loser

And about a third of what my Monaro engine is pushing out these days (albeit in an Audi)

As for 0-100 in 9, my Monaro was happily running 0-141 in just over 10 on moderate boost. Which is the same as a Veyron. And not the same as a C63.

No one in their right mind would drive a Monaro anywhere if it was that or a C63, let's be honest. rofl It may have 1800bhp, but it's still a bag of ****.

Is that not a bit harsh?
Don't know who invited you to this thread but you are really not welcome here, in fact with a comment like that I'd say your not welcome on pistonheads either.

WHS

Also buying a C63 is like buying a Boxster, it's because you can't afford an E63 with even more power..... Although not as much as a FI VXR8. wink

I used to drive the Monaro all over the place. Long trips weren't an issue. I think all the other owners of high powered Monaros and VXR8s would agree. The Audi would be a laugh, but 1mpg (foot down) is a bit limiting.

Don't get me wrong, I've owned many cars and would love to add a C63 (2-door) to the list. I don't agree with the idea that they are superior cause it's they're a Merc. MB has had a shyte reputation since the early 90s. My S600 did nothing but break down and cost money. Most Mercs from the early noughties are rotting quicker than a seventies Lancia.

Top trolling! Can you do us a favour though? At the next meeting where people decide where to go to wind people up for a laugh, can you not tell them about this forum?

It's nice enough as it is, and you can have far more fun winding up Boxster, BMW and Ferrari finances about their cars! You have the benefit of a far bigger audience that way, here you'll only be annoying maybe 10 people at most, seems a waste of your valuable time?
