As above, can they be changed just by taking out the manifold header bolts, is there enough play to move the header away and fit new gaskets all from under the bonnet?

you would need to take move away the exhaust manifold and ideally take off the plastic covers under the windscreen. I think it is important to refit the head ideally from the top and not slide it across the deck.

I would say "Yes" as I had the manifolds in position before popping the gaskets in from above, then put one of the middle bolts in very loose to hold the position.

I did have the plug leads and coil packs off, so maybe that's why it was easy. No need to take any trim (apart from the clamshell which you don't have) off.

Yes Neil, its blowing very slightly on left bank, noticed some water spitting out on cold start up, when warm it runs fine, but when cold you can hear and see it spitting out in between the back two left outlets.

Cheers araf, I did have a look and it looks an easy job to do, was wondering if the manifold came away from the head to easily pop new one in.

Yeah there's load of space once the bolts are out. There are no brackets to the block or anything so once the manifolds loose they are at the mercy of the cats and exhaust system. Ive had my manifolds off and passenger side took 20 minutes from running to up on axle stand and manifold on the floor !

You might need to remove the dipstick to give you some space but if you do its only one bolt and then an o ring in the sump.

But you should be able to change them in situ

I just removed the dipstick bolt, and also the earth strap bolt, just to give a bit of extra room.

Drivers side there's not aload of room but it is possible. Passenger side there is loads of room. On an ls1 anyway.
