Personally Id pay £1500 for an LS3 over the LS2

A few percent more displacement, 23% more flow in the heads and a like number in the intake.
If you are lucky it will also have a tr6060 trans, though I dont think many got this except under warranty.

But if you want to keep it stock either the LS2 or LS3 will be fine.

As soon as you want a bit more power the £1500 extra you allow for an LS3 will pay you back in spades.

Valid points Richard

just done an interesting quick check of average prices of LS2 and LS3 VXR8s for sale exc S/C cars and Bathursts

av. price LS2 £17.5k
av. price LS3 £21.3k

so £3.5k + plus difference, that's more than I thought it would be

to advise a new buyer to only look at LS3s is a bit foolish, look at both engines and have much wider choice of ie maybe 15 not 5. this is speaking from experience with having had 70+ VXR8s not just your own 1 car biggrin

Owning and driving a vehicle for a considerable period of time is in No way the same as selling 70 odd cars
I'm guessing you sell more LS2s are they are more common

the ls3's were near 20k cheaper new than the LS2s yet the LS3's sell for more used

Yeah LS3 isnt worth £3500 more, though by the time you have paid for a set of heads to get you same level and had them fitted and retuned etc you probably wouldn't have much change from £3500. The age and mileage might help too..!?

If you buy one and still want to upgrade the stereo, you do have a couple of (expensive) options such as:

http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=291

Or

http://jhp.com.au/holdenve/GPS-Radio-Upgrades.htm#...

Also, fitting xenons is really easy, you can get a kit from an Aus seller on ebay where the ballast is fitted in the cap so you literally remove the cap from the low beam on the back of the headlight, remove the standard bulb, fit the xenon bulb connect the new ballast cap and refit, job done. My old VXR8 passed it's MOT with these fitted no problem.

If you do go down that route ask for the 4300k bulbs as they give the best light in the VXR8 headlamp, I've had 4300k, 5000k and 6000k.

If you want a switchable exhaust then the Wortec with the switchable motors has to be the way to go.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
