Off to Spa F1, anyone else going?

wow ! what a track..wow what bloody wet weather .
My VXR8 Bathurst S .. I am totally Gob smacked and amazed at how much attention it got from the French and The Belgium's, but distain from the Germans...Even a few yanks gave me thumbs up in the Spa Village next to the track. Some even knew what it was. Haha ! French Van drivers giving me the thumbs up along the E40 going and coming home. The car averaged 27 miles per gallon, which also impressed me.
I did cruise along at 70 - 80 mph.
I am totally knackered now. I must have walked twice around the circuit in 3 days my legs are so stiff and sore. For those of you who have never been there, you have to stand at the bottom of Eau Rouge in real life. as they come down from la Source into Eau rouge on to Les Combes. You can't believe how steep it is and how it turns one way then the other and then sharply turns up hill still turning left all at full throttle . You can see the cars F1, GP2 and GP3 all take it at full chaff. I know PAH250 has been there to do a track day at the circuit before. I like to hear his view.
On Saturday, during qualifying Hamilton got it wrong going up Eau Rouge in the wet, he saved it but he, even Lewis must have gone straight to the gents afterwards...and took a great deep of breath. It looked bloody scary from where I was. YOU really need bloody big balls IMO. There is no kitty litter there to save you, its straight into the tyres
As from a kid I have always wanted to go to Spa. Now my dream has been full filled.

It's awesome mate, totally awesome. Like you say, seeing and experiencing some of the inclines in real life simply can't be put into words. My jaw dropped the first time I did my sighting lap while driving up Eau Rouge. Had to drop a couple of gears just to make it up the hill as I recall.I'd love to go again.
Have to agree about the attentiin, the french and italians seem to love the car, much to my mates annoyance as his nice 650 convertible does not get a mention! LOL
only problem so far is a nocking front ball joint but hopefully that will last the trip as wont be getting replaced out here.

We had to pick our tickets up for the 3 days in the Village. From the F1 ticket office in the Village. We parked outside in the road thousands of people from all over Europe were walking by the R8 and these guys in a Ferrari and Lambo stopped and got out next to us and looked around the car. They were very impressed , they enjoyed the sound it was making as I drove up the street, they turned out to be French and Belgian. I am totally "flabbergasted" that an Australian built salon car could be so attractive to the playboys of Europe. They were not taking the piss, they were totally sincere with me. Even the Belgium Police were interested in the R8. They had the bonnet up and were all over it like fly's on dog mess.
There was a couple of BMW M3's and a new M5 opposite not one person was looking at their cars...
I am told Spa F1 is unique as the village is part of the track at la Source hair pin, and it is a place to be seen to be . Everyone rents out their back yard of field for parking in the village for only 10 Euros.
It was snowy and icy too Paul when you tracked the circuit. Yes I must do it before I leave this earth.
