I agree with Gary, Gareth. It compromises the steering/suspension, as you would expect more unsprung weight to do.

Trying to find other wheels that have an offset in the sweet-spot is proving almost impossible though!

Mmm, I searched for some light but good looking wheels for ages, failed.

Mikey, so you are on 265 rears with no need for tubbing? Given, as you said, they're 282mm wide, that's pretty good going!

Are they 4 R8 front wheels? I thought the rear wheels were wider on the ol' battle bus?

265/30 - MPSS.
ok, that's why they fit. Iam running 285/35 MPSS
In all honesty, I'd happily give up circa 20mm to save the cost of tubbing. Besides, for my weeny 400rwhp, 265 MPSS are more than sufficient. Besides, 265/30/19 MPSS tyres are actually 282mm wide, so I would guestimate about the same as other manufacturers' 275 wide tyres.
The whole point of me fitting VXR8 9.5 inch rears was to prove it can be done. Which I did smile

At full suspension compression. i.e four up and a big bounce without catching the guards?

Correct mate- 265/30 MPSS without tubbing. They are on the 9.5" rear VXR8 wheels. The only trim I had to 'modify' was where the rear bumper meets the arches. There is also the requirement for a rear spacer and longer wheel bolts. The bolts are necessary as the R8 wheels are deeper, so to get the recommended thread for the nuts, I had to go for longer wheel bolts. All in, the parts cost circa £70- I have the part numbers for the wheel bolts, if anyone needs them.
It was very time consuming- firstly I created a spreadsheet with other people's experience/different wheels, to come to a desired offset. Then I bought an R8 rear wheel, and started fitting, driving, checking. Once I was happy, I bought new MPSS tyres (the others were destroyed- been used for burnouts) and fitted.

when I fitted the wheels/tyres, I made a trip to the Evo triangle in Wales, to 'test' them out. Under full compression, it doesn't rub at all. It will, of course, be extremely close, but definitely no rubbing. There is quite a bit of lateral movement at the rear, so ideally I need to get the Monkfish REP to resolve that.

Heavy wheels dont do any favours to any car

A 19" vxr8 wheel is only 3 llb lighter than a 20" Range Rover sport wheel

Alloys with tyres, or Alloys on there own ?

Condition is also key
Alloys only, they have tyres but they are not roadworthy.
