Because it draws most of the air through the 2 top vents in the bumper

One for WP, how does this compare with the one on Ryan's old LS3 that I've got now?

Mine looks tiny compare to this but does have a large scoop that sits lower in the bumper to draw cold air up?

The air box on your car Ian draws air up through the lower bigger vent in the bumper, it was originally fitted to the W427's. This new air box draws air through the upper bumper vents and retains the original MAF.

What one get's the bigger air flow or are they about the same?

Thanks smile

That will be based on sq inches of filter area mate and pretty directly proportional to that..

Hmm, that'll be tricky for me to work out then as it's tucked behind the bumper and it's a bumper off jobbie to get at it.

If it suits the W427, it should be ok !

Roll on SRR so I get a before and after the CAM goes in wink

I was expecting worse from my current setup as I originally made air box lids fed by twin K & N filter in front of the rad. The inlet pipes now just feed air from in front of the rad. However when mapping today I was averaging low 30's while driving most of the time only going in to the 40's after sat idling in a lay bay while I was checking back on the logs.

Took a while to drop back in the 30's but I deliberately sited the IAT at the bottom of the air box (under the filters on the passenger side) so only a few inches above the headers. This isn't in a Vauxhaull and my bonnet is fairly well vented which helps.

You'd expect this setup to suck in loads of hot air but it just doesn't smile

Get a dyno with/without the filter in too.

Its basically a VCM intake which do get good reviews. But Its too small for the air I need to flow.
Near stock its a good setup. I was going to get one. But I knew Id need more eventually.

I would do but I'm not going to tit around taking the bumper off at Charlie's to get to it, I'll see what it does as it's basically stock albeit, OTR, Headers and Sports Cat and I think a basic remap ??

If you're going to SRR Richard, we can have a chat smile

We can log your dyno pull too and compare against atmospheric.
That will tell you how much pressure/power you are missing.

Thanks, thumbup I understand that there's a bar in the middle of the top vents, but it's not as wide as the gap between the two inlets.

After reading Ringrams comment, I'm guessing that the two inlets can supply more than enough air for the filter, so no need for a bigger opening(s). smile
