Hello -

well, my GTS-R overheated today; temp gauge went right to the top, with red light & chimes going as well!

Was queueing in a multi-storey in Brighton - had nowhere to go, but pulled over and switched off soon as I could. Heater on max helped a bit...

Water level ok, so hopefully no damage done...

Most likely cause fans not cutting in, for some reason. Checking them now, back home, when temp reaches a point, only ONE fan kicks in.
Same with AC - getting only one fan.

Is this normal (same for Monaro?) - do you only get one fan, with the second coming on later if needed, or should I be getting both together at all times?

cheers,
Rob

The fans have separate switching temperatures on Monaro.

Regarding the trip in for the two fans, do you know the temp that each fan comes in and how to test the y are working OK.

I would prefer to know they work rather than wait till engine gets hot and hope they trip in.

Download tune from "tune file depot" and software from efilive and check yourself smile

Something like 98* and 108* from memory but the tune will tell you for a fact.

It's free to download the efi software (get v7.5) and you will be able to look at the tune (downloaded as ringram said).

On the right is a large silver/grey button saying Download V7.5 thumbup

It's worth noting that on your 'temperature' gauge, 85*-110* all stays on the 3/8 notch.

ok, thanks for the replies..

think I know what may have happened: discovered a small split in radiator end tank, driver's side.

fair to assume water loss but not immediate replacement from expansion tank, hence high temps?

hopefully no damage done...
