So you could still make a 5pm crossing quite easily with a few stops and a small amount of traffic

Id be tempted to stay either side so we dont hit the actual city in rush hour.

probably best bet is to aim for Bremen then, otherwise we will hit Hamburg traffic if we stop there, or if we hit traffic stop north of Hamburg early in the morning

Anyone remember how much that bridge toll was. I'm looking at the Puttgarden ferry but not at on the day prices.

It was about £150 for all of the tolls both ways. There are a couple of ferry options that we could use which are around £100, but will take more time.

Yeah I prefer the road. Ferry has loads of hanging around.

For a break stopping somewhere on the way would be preferable IMO.

I've been looking at other options if you didn't want to repeat this years trip of driving to Dover, overnight hotel, morning tunnel and then two days of driving.

An option could be drive to Harwich, overnight crossing
Drive to Flensburg, overnight stop
Drive to Frederikshavn, ferry to Gothenburg, drive to Vasteras.

It would take about same amount of time, as the ferry times work out well, but is 400 miles less with the return trip and breaks up the driving. You still get the Autobahn runs, but also time to relax a bit. Just a thought.

I'm kinda looking forward to all the driving. Appreciate that some of you have done it twice already so might want to trim it a bit.

Maybe we should decide on a midway overnight hotel first for the way there, and another for the way back. Then we can break off into groups to take which ever route we fancy to get there and back while still meeting up for beers in the evening?

It sort of happened last time and i think we will have 2 convoys for 2015.

As for mid point hotels i personally think that Flensburg would be a good stop for the drive up and the return leg, that is assuming we are still going to drive through Denmark

Im in Paris the night before so if i meet up with someone on the drive up i will convoy with them if not i will do the same and catch up at the hotel

I plan on staying overnight in Dover, then tunnel across to France to drive up, so could probably time it to meet you as you're leaving France.

I've booked for the way up, but I'm with V8TFT for Harwich overnight as for me it only 40 minutes up the road. But I wouldn't want to go all that way and not drive the Oresund Bridge.
