Does anyone know the paint code for Sting Red on the VXR8 in the UK? Searching the threads it seems to come out with 3? No idea what I'm doing.....

You've pretty much got it. The GM/Holden paint code is called Sting Red for the red VXR8. My local body shop were able to find the paint they needed to spray my wing with just that info, and it was a perfect match. Vauxhall call it Red Hot but I think that's just a PR spin for advertising. Sting Red is the correct one.

Top tip: don't try to match it to any Vauxhall paint colours. No matter how close it looks, VX reds are not the right colour. After all, Vauxhall didn't build or paint any of these cars.

On my LS2 it had 687F on the plate under the bonnet.

What ever you do don't get the 62U code as this is not a match.

Failing the above, give Dougie a few hours out in the sun, then take him down to the local B&Q to colour match his bonce, it'll be spot on hehe

I thought it was because the Monaro came in Sting Red, which was a different shade, so Vauxhall called the VXR8 one Red Hot.

That might be the reason. One thing I do remember is parking my red VXR8 next to Ade's (thunderstorm) red Monaro VXR and the shade of red was definately subtlety different.
