Now we've confirmed it I guarantee a certain gareth will be in touch to see if he can have a read of it
He's way ahead of you, he had sent me a PM first thing this morning Thanks for all the positive comments, I'm looking forward to some meets and many happy years of V8'ing
You have a good car there, suitably enhanced with a great tune. Enjoy!!!
The other bits will help (except said G-Force shafts) enormously.
What I'd like to do is a before and after with my stock CV8 and your (Stigs) tune at SRR. That is if no one has inadvertently over written it? We can find out though, I have one version of it.

Are the G-force shafts bad enough that I should consider keeping the 70k mile originals? Or just bad compared to the other / best options in the market..?
Just waiting for a quote and availability dates in order to have the 3.9 gear and Quaife diff fitted, so need to decide in the next week or so about the half shafts, solid prop and hubs..

So having only had the car a few days I find that my neighbor has put a ding in my n/s door.... Going to speak to them tonight, hopefully they'll be reasonable and help out with the repair. It's only a little 5p ding, but I'm guessing it will still cost 50 quid to fix?
Any recommendation for PDR in or near Farnham??
should be able to pull out a small ding, even chips away are good to be honest at that stuff
that car had a total chassis rejig and new rear wings after it rolled, sold it on and no one ever could tell
not really, does it still have the weird little mark on the rear of the bumper though?

TBH. If you already have the shafts, they might be worth a try. You don't have enough power to worry them really AFAIK, and its an easy swap back if the CVS fail early.
Will be in touch in the next couple of weeks.
The ding is a minor irritation, any good dent man should have it out quickly for £50 or so.

Thanks for the replies guys - I'm dropping her off at Hardy Engineering on Monday morning... they just do diff's and boxes so should know what they're doing!
I'm going to supply all the parts I've been given and let them decide what should stay and what should go once it's all in pieces.
The whole drivetrain needs refreshing, so fingers crossed that it all goes together as planned...

Dropped off this morning for fitment of a new Quiafe diff and 3.9 gear
I've done just enough miles over the last week to get to know her, so can't wait to feel the difference it'll make
Don't know anything about the diff but sounds like a Torsen with helical gears just like the trutrac. I've done just enough miles over the last week to get to know her, so can't wait to feel the difference it'll make
You should be well pleased with the new found acceleration from the gears. Make sure you get the right oil in the diff. You are not supposed to use LSD oil in a helical gear setup i.e no friction modifier in there.
Bet your smile is even wider?
Quick update - focusing on the positives!
The 3.9 gear is great and doesn't in any way feel short. At 70 odd she sits at around (just under) 2000rpm and everywhere else pulls much better, making 3rd and 4th much more versatile.
I would highly recommend this mod to any Monaro owner.
The Motive Performance gears do whine so I can't recommend them and I'm now left search for an alternative solution.... but will not be reverting back to the stock 3.4 gearset!
The wife and I had a great day out at SRR and met a few of the usual suspects.... already looking forward to the next meet.
Here's a gratuitous snap, playing with her friends on Sunday morning on the South Downs

Nice one!
re the whine you need to change your diff oil for the correct viscosity, on this score diy or get it to someone like MF. When I had that car the original diff was using the wrong oil from factory - THEY ALL DID, to stop the clunnking (naughty VX it was obvious this was to stop customers saying their car was broke when it wasn't). I had the oil and FM replaced and I remember at the time posting it was the best mod I'd made to the car by simply transforming how it hooked up at the rear
Your mate has a stunning looking breadvan too! Where you based

Thanks mate - the M coupe does go well, but it's not been without issue either
Unfortunately I already have a 'decent' 75w140 in the diff... the correct mix of friction modifier would fix the clunking / chatter, but I don't think you can eliminate the gear whine of the Motive gears...
Not a problem if you're 'on it', but not cool as a long term ownership prospect.
I think MF have a solution for me... will report back soon
